Truth

Daily writing prompt
What are you passionate about?

Rudy Giuliani says “truth is not truth,” but as a writer I always seek the truth in any story. I am passionate about honesty. If we are honest with each other, we know where we stand. We often don’t know where politicians truly stand because they are reluctant to be honest about what they really think.

My father instilled the value of honesty. He had a hyper view of it. He claimed he would not take even a penny off the ground, because the owner may come back to claim it. To him maintaining his honesty was more important than even meager financial gain, even if appropriate. How many people even know when they lose a penny? I didn’t go as far as he did, but honesty became part of my nature. Peers have often said my writing is honest. I don’t do this by decide, I write like I see it.

An honest person can miss the absolute truth sometimes. We all have a partial view of the picture and various biases that control how we interpret facts or events. I strive to be as accurate as my personal limitations allow. Also, I would be no good at keeping track of my lies; it’s too tedious.

One response to “Truth”

  1. Exactly! People who doesn’t lie need not remember what lies he/she said!
