Cranes

Each year Sandhill Cranes migrate in two major flyways, between their wintering grounds along the southern coast and their breeding grounds in Canada and northern America. One flyway goes over my house. Each Spring and Fall I watch for them. It’s my signal of the changing seasons. It impresses that these birds have been migrating this way long before any people settled in this land. It gives me perspective, that despite the current politics and other events, there are bigger things happening, confirming the rhythm of life. It’s an esoteric thought, but it helps me maintain some peace of mind during turbulent times. As Richard Carson said: “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.”
