Books

Daily writing prompt
What are you most excited about for the future?

When I put my first book out, I didn’t know what to expect. I was exclusively focused on getting it into print. I didn’t put any thought into the next step. It was one of the most rewarding and exciting things to see my work in print form, as a book I could hold in my hands. I could have been happy with that, but I hoped to sell few, maybe cover my costs. Also, putting out a book that reaches others is a nice feeling. Unfortunately, my sales were slow. I found out there were a ton of books released every day. (I know, it’s kind of obvious, but I guess I was naive about the market.) Since I am not famous, my name is not a search term. Oh, if someone is searching for my genre, my book will produce hits, but on page 100. Who scrolls through a hundred pages of search results? It was eye-opening to realize I didn’t know anything about making my book visible. I did some research and got some help. Now, with a second edition of my book almost ready, I looking forward to seeing what happens with my new knowledge. In the end, if I don’t get very far, I’m not going to take it personally. The market is tough and highly saturated. I have more books ready for printing, so I’m going to put more out as long as I can afford it. I’ll see what happens. It’s exciting to live a life long dream, so I’m already ahead.
