We have a yipping dog, a Lhasa apso, and it sometimes drives me crazy. It’s one thing that she barks with a penetrating shrill that gets worse the longer she goes–but she is a terrible communicator. We had a Pug once. He barked too, but he always let us know, what he wanted. If he wanted to go outside, he would bark by the back door. If he was hungry, he would bark in the kitchen. He was a good communicator. Our apso just barks. If she wants to go outside, she will bark at the television, down the hall or anywhere, except the back door. Her barks are all the same, whether she wants to go out, is hungry or thirsty, mad at the cats or wants to go for a walk. It’s a guessing game. Sometimes we try to outlast her and ignore her barking after we have given her everything she could want. But she’s relentless. I miss our Pug.
