USA

What are your favorite brands and why?

This is perhaps anecdotal, but I have had the best experience with tools made in the USA. Once in a while, I’ve bought a tool in the cheap bin at the hardware store, like pliers or screwdrivers (they’re not made in the US). They never last and deform after a few uses. But I’ve had the same American counterparts for decades and they’re still in good shape. My biggest brand is Kraft. I grew up on blue box dinners, Velveeta, singles, Cracker Barrel, and caramels, which made great taffy apples. It was the biggest thrill when I worked there as a food scientist. My other favorite brand was Gateway computers, with the black and white cow boxes. It’s fun when a company has fun with their packaging.
