This weekend a Junko flew into our window. I happened to be looking out the window and saw it happen. I was powerless and cringed when the little thing collided with the glass. We’ve been meaning to put something in the windows so the birds can see the danger. I guess we better do it soon. I went outside to check on the bird. It was crouched on the ground and didn’t move when I approached, which is a sign it was at the very least, stunned. From a safe distance I studied it to determined if it had injuries. Over time, it began to look around and then tried to fly, but it crashed into my daughter’s car, but not as hard. Eventually it hopped away. I assume it was okay. It reminds me of a time when I was little and a Barn Swallow flew into the window. We kept that bird in a box for a few hours to recover. When we opened the box outside, it flew away. I swore that the Swallow stayed close and visited me every year. My parents thought I was crazy. We had lots of swallows; how did I know that specific one was visiting me? It was my Swallow. I wonder if I have a Junko now.
