We have a tortoise shell cat, who is cuddly and a lap cat. She can be fun, but she is also annoying. When she’s hungry, she lets us know it. She gets up high where she’s not supposed to be. She scratches unless we relent and get her food. Sometimes she goes up high and scratches up there, relying on the noise something makes when she knocks it off. If we ignore her, she waits, scratches in little bursts, watching to see if we’ve had enough, if we ignore again, she scratches more. She’s expeditious with her scratching, only exerting enough effort to get our reaction. She will scratch, stop and look up to assess our state of mind. It’s bad when she’s hungry in the middle. She scratches stuff in our bedroom, often the wall because it screeches, and keep doing it until we wake up. She can hear us stir, she darts away so we can’t catch her in the act. It does no good to lock her out of the bedroom, because she scratches the door. We love her, but she’s a pesky cat.
