I’m nearing the end of a rough draft of my third book in my Escape From Desolation trilogy. I call it a rough draft and not a first draft because when I’m done I have to go through the whole thing again to tighten it up and focus on the themes established by the ending. I don’t work with a formal outline; I have a general one in my head. When I start a story I like to start writing and see where the story takes me. Part of the fun of creating is to be surprised myself. right now, I’m struggling with the final ending. I got to a climax of the conflicts and I whipped out 8,000 words in two days, but now the final wrap up is coming slow. It’s been all consuming. Along with my son’s wedding, I haven’t spent any time promoting my completed books. Once I complete an official first draft, I will let my daughter and wife read it. I’m excited about their reaction. And, hopefully they won’t suggest too many changes…

It’s been a long road because I’ve been reluctant to publish. I probably start ten years ago and did it piece meal. I wrote half of the story in writing classes. My wife read along. When I finished the classes, she insisted that I finish the story. I did that about two years ago. After my wife and daughter read it, we decided to make it two books, with a third book in mind. It took me about three months to create the rough draft of book three. I’m hoping for a release in late spring. Thanks for asking. Good luck on your book. Completion is an accomplishment.
