Sometimes when I am in a humorous mood, my writing is the most free. But I can’t force it. I can’t force funny. Lately, funny hasn’t been coming my way. It may be because I am immersed in writing my latest book. The tone and theme of that book dominates my creative space. It’s like a tune in my head that I can’t escape. Many of my stories are like that, each with a different tone, from serious to silly. I think my current project is too serious, but I can’t seem to move away from the tone of the story. It’s locked in. I’m almost finished with the first draft. When I do complete it, I’m ready for something lighter. I’m ready to change the tune.
