Married

My son got married last weekend. After all the months of planning and anticipation, it was over in a flash. Good thing there’s video and pictures. It’s taken me two days to recover, sign of my age, I guess. It was fifteen hours on the go. I haven’t been that active in years. I gave a speech. I thought it was going to be a toast, so I wrote a “short and sweet” one, but an hour before my time came, I found out everyone were giving speeches. A few last minute adjustments and I gave my speech. I’m pretty comfortable with public speaking, but I felt myself getting nervous during the talk, but no one could tell. I was proud of my son. He’s become a fine man. We have a new daughter-in-law and she’s wonderful, and good for my son. I like weddings. Everyone is gathered for a positive event and people are in a good mood. Despite troubling things that might be going on around us, people like to celebrate. It’s good to remember the best things. But I need a long rest before I think about my daughter getting married.
