Couch Potatoes

Daily writing prompt
What were your parents doing at your age?

By the time my parents where my age, they had mostly retreated from life. Their activities were predominantly driven by the activities of their kids and grandkids, birthdays parties, holidays, etc. By this time my parents were hardcore couch potatoes. My mother live in the world of her soap operas and my Dad spent his time yelling at the politicians on TV. In a strange way, remembering them gave me a boost. Lately, I have been bummed out by the realization that for my whole life I have wanted to be an author, but due some bad events when I was ten, I diverted from that path. My life has been about the journey back to my truth. So, even though I may have been in a different place professionally without trauma, I have never given up the struggle. And now, after self-publishing two of my books, I have just begun the newest phase of my quest. I haven’t retreated and will keep up the fight as long as I can. I have not surrendered like my parents did. I do struggle with Couch Potato syndrome, but I’m working on that too.
