They say that much of our recycled plastic goes to the landfill, which is sad. If there’s not a market to reuse plastic, then burn it, but not in the incinerators at some waste disposal facilities. Burn it to fuel a car, a steam-powered vehicle. Steam probably went out of favor because the combustion engine seemed better, but that was old-steam technology. With a century of technology, I expect an efficient steam powered car could be made, and plastics would be the fuel to keep it powered. The car would only seat two, because the back seat area would be needed for the plastic fuel. There would also have to be an onboard carbon recapture system, because a recycling powered car would be a contradiction if it produced CO2. The car would probably not be popular in areas with bitter winters, since it takes time to get the steam going, unless the system heats the water (or other fluid) fast, like those on demand (tankless) water heater systems do. I’m not John DeLorean, so I may not be making a prototype any time soon. I heard Neil Young was part of a group looking at more efficient cars. Maybe he’ll pick up the idea: the plastic-steam-car.
