Cold Snap

They call it an Arctic Blast, a sudden down turn in temperatures. Just a few days ago it was raining in January, which used to be rare. We were supposed to get twelve inches of snow. Instead we got four inches soaked with rain. It was a mess. Then the down turn, so cold, but what it should be this time of year. My wife and I got married in January. It was twenty seven below, so we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, much better. It’s thirteen below this morning. I won’t got out. I don’t like the cold anymore. When I was a kind, it would start to get frigid in December and stay bitter cold until late February. Now, I just have to wait a few days and it will be unseasonably warm again. Then I will go out. While I type at my computer, which is on a desk that sits over the vent, I get a blast of warm air. Maybe I will stay here all day and view the frosty white landscape from my window, much better than being out there.
