Leaf Blower

Daily writing prompt
If you could un-invent something, what would it be?

I think the world could do without leaf blowers. They’re noisy and use up precious fuel. Too many times, I’ve watched lawn workers blowing leaves around that blow back on the same yard, just moments after the workers leave, especially those leaves they blow into the street. I admit raking up leaves is time consuming and sometimes exhausting, but I’ve hardly seen a professional crew clean up a yard any faster with a leaf blower. I admit there is something appealing about a machine that does the work, as long as the aim is good. I gave in once. My neighbor got a new leaf blower and gave me his old electric one. After blowing about six leaves the thing shut off and never worked again. I figures the universe was paying me back for my transgression. I’m back to raking, and I need the exercise. I must continue to tolerate the noisy whirs of leaf blowers dutifully operated by others who give in to the siren call of easy clean up.
