Whose Chair?

Daily writing prompt
If you could make your pet understand one thing, what would it be?

We have a cat, a white and gray Maine Coon. He’s a beautiful cat. If I could make him understand one thing, it would be his place. He’s always taking my chair, a recliner where I watch TV. He loves to sleep in it. Often he waits until he sees me approach and jumps ahead of me to snatch it. It’s often annoying, but he’s so persistent I give up and use the adjacent couch to watch my programs. I, however, prefer my recliner. If I leave the door to my office open, he will often rush in and take my desk chair. My wife says he takes my chairs because he likes me. Except for my daughter, I’m the only one he let’s hold him. Well, his purported affection for me is little consolation over my battle for the chairs. My wife proposed getting two recliners, side by side, one for the cat, one for me. But maybe we should get a loveseat … crazy cat.
