With Sound Mind and Something to Do

Daily writing prompt
What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

In Frank Herbert’s Dune, the average life span was 300 years. This was of course related to the spice mélange, and partly why the drug was central to the galactic economy. The idea of living that long, captivated me, but I would like it only–if I had plenty of work (meaning creative work) and loved ones around me. Given my inventory of partial stories and ideas, I have enough writing to keep me busy for a long while, but a few hundred years–I’m not sure. I know I have enough to make it to, at least 120. I better keep up my vitamins.

  1. Fascinating concept! The prospect of a longer life to explore creative pursuits is intriguing. What’s your favorite storyline or idea so far?

    1. Thanks for your comments. My favorite story is one I haven’t published yet, but if I stay on course, I will work on publishing it in 2024. I have a ton written. It’s a humorous story about a middle-aged space marine that gets in the middle of a galactic conspiracy and stumbles his way through as he tries to make things right. I hope I don’t have to live to 300 to finish it. 🙂
