Winter Tree

When I look out of my office window, I observe a collection of trees. When the sun is out and the sky is blue, the intricate web of branches that fan out from each trunk is stunning. In the winter, there are no leaves to obscure the intricate network. On a bright day the trees are enhanced by the sky, but on a cloudy day, the barren trees are bleak. Snow makes it better, little streaks of white that dance on feathery limbs. We don’t get much snow in my area anymore. When my kids were little, I would make them snow sculptures, slides and forts. There hasn’t been enough snow for that in years. When I was a kid, snow was around for months. Some say it’s global warming. I have no way to know if it’s true or not, but I prefer winter with snow. It makes the trees prettier, even on gloomy days.
