Not Just A Vase

Daily writing prompt
How are you creative?

I used to think that being creative was just an art thing, painting a picture or drawing it, writing something, writing or singing a song, and making a nice vase. Early on I knew I was creative, but saw my ability in these narrow terms. Eventually I realized my creativity influenced my traditional work life. I realized this when I was manager of computer programmers. I broadened the way I approached the challenges at my company and innovated new approaches. Unfortunately, my boss wasn’t impressed and wanted more convention, or the status quo. I could do it his way, but I felt stifled. Eventually, the conflict lead me to leave the company. As, I look back I realized my creativity always influenced my work. When I inherited a rabble of a staff that handled the legal affairs of the company, I turned my group into an organized and structured legal department that broadened services. It was my innovations, my creativity that led to a better functioning group. These days, I focus on traditional creative endeavors, writing, painting, sculpting figurines, but I still don’t make vases.
