The daily prompt asks me to share what I know about the year I was born? Sadly, I know more about Hannibal’s campaign against the Romans, than I know about that year. I’m dating myself, but Eisenhower was president. I had to look this up to double check my memory. I know it was the era of the baby boomers, but my parents were teenagers at the end of WWII, putting me on the backside of the trend. When I was born, I know my parents lived in an apartment by the railroad tracks and it was so hot in their apartment, they had the windows opened in the dead of winter. Going back to Eisenhower, it tells me the Vietnam War was only just beginning as a visitation by some advisors. I know radio was giving way to a knew invention, the television, and that I was born near the beginning of what it known as the “golden age” of television. Artists still rendered by hand, advertisements, book illustrations and magazine covers; that is, the digital age was far away. I know it was regarded as simpler times, post-WWII, post-Korean conflict, at least my parents told me that. But what I know is second-hand, because how could I remember or even understand anything around me at that age. I guess, it was a great year, because I was born in it … ha.
