Age Shifts

When I was young I was definitely a night person. I would either get caught up in late night movie watching or my own creative endeavors. Then, when I could, I would sleep in, often to pre-noon. I could not imagine the life of farmers who were said to wake just before dawn and retire just after dusk. That life style did not fit my pattern at all. I often was the most spirited in the evenings, long after the sun had set. And in the morning, I would be too fast asleep to notice the rising of the sun. That was then. Now, in semi-retirement, I am lucky to make it past ten o’clock. In the morning, I often greet with wide eyes the sun as it rises, because worries wake me up early. But I won’t be farming.
