Dreaming

I never liked the medical/clinical description of dreams, basically a result of the brain waking up, something routine, ordinary and insignificant, a function like breathing. Dreams reflect my state of mind. When I was a kid, I was very afraid. I had many dreams about being in dangerous places and under constant threat. I was always running from the “bad guys,” until a fought back in my dreams. It was a moment of triumph that signaled I was becoming more confident in my conscious “real” life. My dreams have helped me work through challenges, or, are symbols of my real life success in resolving challenges. I can’t say which one is more true. I often dream in story, like I am walking through a movie, a member of the cast. Sometimes I know I’m in a movie. Often I wake up and write down the dream because I think it makes a good story. Decades later I still remember pivotal dreams. Some of the places in my dreams are as real to me as physical places. Dreams are more to me than the rebooting of my brain. They have been my guide and inspiration. I’m with the Everly Brothers.
