The daily prompt asks about cultural heritage. I’ve never really felt any. I’m a mutt, my family came from England, Ireland and Germany. My family either didn’t know why our ancestors emigrated to America or didn’t want to talk about it. I’m mostly English, but I don’t feel any connection to England. I had a English relative who rode a train across America n the mid-1800’s, as a servant to some English gentlemen. Others came from Shropshire, England and worked in the iron plants of Coalbrookdale. They may have come to America because they got tired of smelting iron. My grandmother’s mother remembered coming over on the boat as a little girl. They brought a gliding rocking chair that was our family heirloom. It sat in my Aunt’s attic for years, holding books and collecting dust. It was too small to sit in. Otherwise, I know very little of my cultural heritage. If I could say anything, I would say our family were hard working people just trying to get by. I guess that’s something.
