I once heard that reading is an essential part of writing. In my writing classes, many of my fellow students were avid readers. I usually read at night when the day is winding down. I would read more if I could turn off the television. There is seldom anything good on (even though I have a ton of channels). The TV still has a hold on me, maybe it’s the snappy commercials: no. Maybe it’s the great content: no, I covered that. Millions of channels doesn’t make for better content. Maybe it’s an annoying habit: yes. I have reduced my TV hours in the morning. Nighttime is the next frontier. Reading is the positive reward for my efforts.
