It’s one thing to know about the world, by reading or hearing about it, but being there truly has no equal. My organization sent me to its office in Delhi, India. I had rarely been outside the United States, let alone the other side of the world. I’m pretty much a naïve home body. At first the differences of India were overwhelming, but in time I grew to appreciate the warm spirit of the people. In seeing various sites, monuments and places, I was awestruck by the age of the culture. I saw one tower that was built before modern America even existed; it made me realize how young it remains. I was first apprehensive about going, but now that I’ve been there, I miss it and hope to return some day.
