When I don’t like the daily prompts, I search for other topics to write about. I usually try to be optimistic, upbeat or funny. But I usually can’t escape what’s dominating my mind. Today, politics is the oppressive cloud that hangs over. I can’t turn on the television without getting bombarded with political fighting or endless commentary. It’s the same old thing, regardless of political view. Re-runs used to be a good distraction, but watching those are only fun to watch the first few times they repeat. So, I turn the television off, because as a topic, politics is a downer. In the silence of my home, I wait for topics to enter my head. I sit at the computer waiting for my brain to make my fingers move. I wait. I wait. I wait. Nothing happening. But nope, I won’t turn the television on.
