It’s nice to know that politicians can walk and chew gum at the same time, but I cringe when I hear this phrase. Multi-tasking used to be the way to describe the ability to work on more than one thing at once, but I guess the gum cartel wanted to get their two cents in. It’s funny, because walking or chewing gum are neither of the tasks a politician needs to do their work to put legislation forward, except I suppose they do need to walk to the chamber to vote. It’s gratifying to know that chewing gum won’t stop them from getting to their votes.
