Being Picky

Daily writing prompt
What foods would you like to make?

I saw this daily prompt and had a funny reaction, that is, I don’t make food. I can’t make fruits or vegetables, only grow them. I don’t make dishes; I prepare them. But of course, preparing a dish is like assembly; the ingredients are gathered and put together for a meal. Many things that are made are done so by assembly. In that sense, Car companies make cars (or manufacture them?). So if other things can be made, why can’t food. Even though food may be a composite of ingredients, it is also often single items, like an apple, a carrot or a pepper. I can’t make an apple, etc. Prepare is a better word in the food area, but if “make” must be the word, then “food” is the wrong word. It should be meal; that is, what meals would I like to make… Here I go again.
