I certainty tried to be a traditional romantic when I courted my wife, candy and flowers. She thought chocolate was fattening and flowers made her sneeze. I tried cards, but she thought cards were too expensive for the amount of use they got. She was very practical. I got much farther when I made my own cards with my own messages from the heart. She brought out the silly in me. My sense of humor let me be myself and formed the foundation of our rapport. Romance is best when original, personal and honest, formed from the inspiration each partner invites.
