I’m going to cheat and list four books, so I can get the Bible in, but still list three other titles. As a religious person I feel obligated to list the Bible as one of the influential books. The new testament message of compassion, tolerance and hope definitely guided my thinking, with the help of C.S. Lewis. My other three: Moby Dick for a great depiction of the inner turmoil that drives us to walk the line between oblivion and bliss; The Guns of August, which taught me the complexities and far reaching consequences of global politics; and finally, The Cat in the Hat, for the grand celebration of the imagination.
