Since I published my first book, I have been promoting it among my family, friends and social contacts. It is an uncomfortable process. I am a natural hermit. Like many sons who follow their father’s model (for good or bad), my father was a hermit. When he passed away, his contact with people was less than a few dozen. Don’t count care givers and medical staff, his personal contacts hits a dozen. Remove infrequent contacts with family, the number of contacts is one, his wife. My Mom was a conscripted hermit. Rightly or wrongly, I share these tendencies. Covid didn’t help. While people complained of the pandemic isolation, I relished days in the house without stepping out. Yikes! Now, I’m faced with marketing and advertising, something I know little about. A teacher friend suggested that I do readings of my book. I almost threw up thinking about it. I’ve never been a strong fan of The Rolling Stones, but I am one stone that is shedding my moss.
