My father left me no clear legacy. He retreated from himself and succumbed to drinking. My experience with him had been mostly a cloud with a few bright spots, notably fishing. I think about his influence because I wish I had a powerful legacy from him, footsteps to follow. I spent much of my early adulthood manufacturing a legacy, later turning his negativity into an indirect legacy. My father never found work that he was passionate about. Indirectly, he taught me that having a dream and pursuing it was crucial to peace of mind. A legacy is something I want to leave my children, something they can view with pride and also use as a guide. I have always had dreams. I have struggled to accept that I have the right to pursue them. I always wanted to write and turn it into a book. Now, I have an eBook out and more to come. My legacy is pursue your dreams and honor your passion, plus, with a little dose of fishing.
