My book, Escape From Desolation, will be out in less than a week. It is the first time I have published. I have a lot of mixed feelings about it, but my family encouraged me to take the risk. I self-published because I don’t have any connections to traditional publishing and am an unknown quantity. Some people told me to get an agent. That process is just as hard as finding a traditional publisher. The book world has changed so much that the difference between the two routes is who bears the cost of printing and distribution. More importantly, I finally took the risk of putting my work out there. We will see what happens. I am both excited and terrified.
