Macaroni Grill

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite restaurant?

There was chain restaurant that opened in our neighborhood, The Macaroni Grill that I loved to go to. It had ambience but was family friendly. When it first opened, a singer would mingle among the tables and do requests. Everything was clean. The smells from the grill were exquisite. They placed paper on the tables so people could draw. The server would write their name down to get things started. My kids loved the drawing part. The service was friendly and enthusiastic. The food was excellent, Italian theme. It was my favorite place to go on my birthday. We brought family there who were visiting from out of town. Sadly the quality declined over the years, no singers, friendly but less enthusiastic servers and the food quality remained good, but lost a certain flare. There was a fire and the restaurant never reopened. It sat vacant for years. Every time I drove by it I searched for signs of revival. I scoured the local news for any developments. Eventually, it was torn down and now a fast food joint is going up in its place. I will not be having my birthday dinners there.
