I have a goal to have my book, Escape From Desolation, in print this year, maybe this summer. I decided to break it up into two books, which are both 80,000 to 85,000 words. I feel good about this decision because it makes the project more manageable. One complication arose, rethinking main stream publishing, because the lower word count makes the book more competitive. Self-publishing appeals to me because publishing is more predictable. In the meantime, my daughter is proof reading what I consider a solid draft (probably my ninth pass, wow it’s exhausting).
